Relationship!

On 21st Oct 2012 one of my buddy have his solomiztion of marriage. The event was hold at his house. The venue was deco very nicely, it suppose to be a very happy moment, but there are so many mixed feeling happened in our group of buddy.

It was no suprise for me that he will marriage to this hairdresser, but to our group some of them just cannot accept it. She was a hairdresser that work in the hair saloon that my buddy invested in. Well should say he open the saloon for her. And that time everyone think that, just he see some talent in her and wanted to help her.

We have know each other since 14-15, and it was like 20+ years of friendship. Our parents are like each other parents, our kids are like each other kids. The relationship between the kids are sometime even more close then their own cousin. But 2 years ago since the open of the hair saloon, there are misunderstanding and unhappiness happened. And the closeness in our group have been distance. It was really sad for thing to turn out this way, but relationship are never easy.

I know the care and love we have for each other are still there, whenever there are thing happened to anyone of us, we will still come together and give each other full support. And I thank God for all these love we have for each other, and may God help us to over come all these misunderstanding and be close like a family again.

Wish that Eric and Daphne will be sharing life together and grow old together. And hope their little one will have a healthy arrival.

Rain Drop

These are some of the Rain Drop photos I took at My Village roof top garden.

Comment from fb;
Eric Lim Good shots. Good effort. When you show up they will be there for you. Keep on shooting.

Shin Kushiya (My Village)

Having craving for rice ball for weeks. And the only place I can think of  to have rice ball is Shin Kushiya.

Shin Kushiya is a Japanese resturant which speicalist in charcoal grill. But we like the sashimi and dessert they serve too. We use to visit the store at Vivo city, but now they have a new branch at My Village which is more near to our place. My Village is a very cosy building near to Serangoon Circle. There are a few nice food places, 24hrs NTUC and a very nice roof top garden.

This sunday we took bus 136 (we try not to drive on sunday) to My Village to have rice ball.

Raining morning
We were very lucky, it start to pour heavily when we sit down at the resturant.

Our appetizer;

Tako Wasabi

Onigiri - Rice Ball
The rice ball are grilled, charcoal smell on the rice. Bonito on top is moving because of the heat, is like watching the food come alive. :-)

My main is a pork soup with udon for the cold weather.
Buta Bara Seiro Udon
The soup, udon and crispy tempura flakes come in 3 separate plate. The udon is cooked just right, not too soft, still can feel the texture when you bite it. The pork soup is warm and tasty, the pork inside is thinly sliced, and the meat is a mix of lean and fat so when we chew it in the mouth the taste will be a balance of sweetness from the meat and fat.

Premium Sushi Set
Hubby had the Premium Sushi set, it take quite a while to serve. We not sure what cause the delay, the prepare of the fish or something else. But waiting for food that don't need to cook, 30 mins is a little too long.  Well but the fish are all very fresh, other then the long waiting time hubby is happy with the freshness of the sweet prawn and the fishes.

As what Shin said their dessert are, simply too good to be missed.

So these are our dessert;

Vanilla Ice Mochi
Something hubby like, warm mochi with ice cold vanilla ice cream.

Earl Grey Jelly Creme Royale
Earl Grey Jelly was for me, it was light and the fresh cream make it smell very nice, like the japanese milk tea that I like.

Nice cold afternoon with food that is close to our heart.

Thai Express (T3)

Most of the Saturday, we will have lunch at Changi Airport after hubby finished his work. Xin Wang and Earl Swensen are our usual choice. Yesterday we had a change, we try out Thai Express. (Because I was having mood swing and need some dessert)

From the name we know it serve Thai food and it is a casual resturant.

These are what we had;

Thai Fried Squid
Appetizer - Thai Fried Squid

Fresh crispy fried squid coated with sweet and sour sauce. Crispy on the outside, soft fresh squid inside.

Redbean Milkshake

Lime Rose Drink
The Lime Rose Drink I had have a very nice bright red color and look like very sweet but it taste sour. And the lime fragent is very strong too. To me, it look like rose drink, but taste like lime juice.

Noodle with Beef Slice
Hubby had Stick noodle with sliced beef in beef broth. The beef broth smell nice, and the beef slice is cooked just right.

BBQ Talay - BBQ seafood platter with spicy chilli padi and lime dip
BBQ Talay
I had BBQ Talay - BBQ seafood platter with spicy chilli padi and lime dip.
The seafood they use are fresh; fish when I cutting it to bite size it don't break up into many small pieces, the prawn is crunchy even the shell can be eaten, the squid is tender. The most important is the spicy and sour dip, it just make the whole dish perfect.

And we end our meal with two signature Thai dessert; Red Ruby and Steam Tapioca. (the reason we are here)

Tub Tim Krob - Thai red ruby with sweet coconut ice-cream
Don't the red ruby look nice? It was water chestnut coated with tapioca flour. Chewy on the outside and the water chestnut inside is crunchy and sweet. And it make me smile right away.  :-D   Coconut ice cream is like a bonus for me.

Man Cheam - Steamed sweet tapioca with coconut milk
Warm sweet tapioca and the fresh coconut milk is just a pefect match. Double smile from me. :-D

Nice afternoon being at Thai!

PS: Because of me choose 2 dessert, hubby have to for go his choose of dessert. Thank you darling.

Lai Lai Casual Dinning

Lai Lai is a cafe from Taiwan, and they are famous for their Beef Noodle Soup. They do serve many others interesting Taiwan dishes too. They have a branch at Nex Mall, everytime when I walk pass the store, I will tell myself, "try this next time!".

At last one of the afternoon, I visited the branch. I ordered the set meals, which include; main dish, side dish and a drink. And my meal have Braised Pork Rice set, Braised Pork Knuckel and Iced Jasmine Green Tea.

When I was waiting for my order the ceiling lamp catch my eyes, don't it look nice?

First to come is the Jasmin Green Tea.

Cold nice tea for a hot afternoon. And it come with the nice chewy pearl just like the Taiwan bubble tea.

Braised Pork Rice Set
Melt in the mouth braised pork pour on the rice, tender braised egg and soft braised peanut serve at the side. There are some pickles in the rice set too, taste of everything just balance up so well.

Pickles

Braised Pork Knuckel
The pork knuckel, is tender, the sauce is thick and fragent. The most important is it wasn't oily at all.

It was kind of heavy for a lunch, but over all was a good experience. Sure will be back to try the famous beef noolde. (Lai Lai in chinese mean come come) Their food really make me want to come back again!

American Breakfast

Singapore is made up of many races, and we are blessed that we can enjoy many kind of food prepare by different races. For breakfast alone we can have Dim Sum from the Chinese, Malay will be Nasi Lemak, Kua Kua, Indian will be Roti Prata, and American Breakfast is what many of us like to have on a nice Sunday morning.

Today I prepared an American breakfast, lightly toasted bread with butter, honey baked ham, scrambled eggs and baked beans.

Meals prepare by me

I apply butter to the bread before I put it to toast. This is a way I learn from Yoshinoya breakfast, just they use a thicker bread. The Yoshinoya at Compass Point serve breakfast everyday. There are 3 kinds of American Breakfast to choose from, and the meal come with a cup of  Tea or Coffee.

Yoshinoya Breakfast

Scrambled eggs is my first try today, nomally I will cook sunny side up, and the reason is Cafe Cartel breakfast. I love Cafe Cartel breakfast, and I know someone is just not ready to get out of bed yet, home cook will be a better choice for my craving.

Sausage, Bacon & Eggs from Cafe Cartel

Cafe Cartel only serve breakfast on Sat & Sun. The breakfast set will be serve with a small bun, and free flow of coffe and tea, also we can choose the way we want the eggs to be cooked; over easy, sunny side up & scrambled.

Freshly Baked Bun from Cafe Cartel
Cafe Cartel bread are baked freshly in the store. The bun that come with the set is very puffy and soft and is served warm. They use to serve free flow of bread in the store, but have stop the free flow few months ago. I still remember, everyone will rush to the bread counter when ever there are new batch serve. But lucky for us, the bread is in the meal now, we still can order and enjoy it.

Coffee from Cafe Cartel

The coffe they serve is also one of my favorite, is smooth and fragent. The most important is, it don't have bitter after taste. And is free flow during breakfast, that mean I can enjoy a few more cups.

So, what do you like for breakfast?
