Having craving for rice ball for weeks. And the only place I can think of to have rice ball is Shin Kushiya.
Shin Kushiya is a Japanese resturant which speicalist in charcoal grill. But we like the sashimi and dessert they serve too. We use to visit the store at Vivo city, but now they have a new branch at My Village which is more near to our place. My Village is a very cosy building near to Serangoon Circle. There are a few nice food places, 24hrs NTUC and a very nice roof top garden.
This sunday we took bus 136 (we try not to drive on sunday) to My Village to have rice ball.

Raining morning |
We were very lucky, it start to pour heavily when we sit down at the resturant.
Our appetizer;
 |
Tako Wasabi |
 |
Onigiri - Rice Ball |
The rice ball are grilled, charcoal smell on the rice. Bonito on top is moving because of the heat, is like watching the food come alive. :-)
My main is a pork soup with udon for the cold weather.
 |
Buta Bara Seiro Udon |
The soup, udon and crispy tempura flakes come in 3 separate plate. The udon is cooked just right, not too soft, still can feel the texture when you bite it. The pork soup is warm and tasty, the pork inside is thinly sliced, and the meat is a mix of lean and fat so when we chew it in the mouth the taste will be a balance of sweetness from the meat and fat.

Premium Sushi Set |
Hubby had the Premium Sushi set, it take quite a while to serve. We not sure what cause the delay, the prepare of the fish or something else. But waiting for food that don't need to cook, 30 mins is a little too long. Well but the fish are all very fresh, other then the long waiting time hubby is happy with the freshness of the sweet prawn and the fishes.
As what Shin said their dessert are, simply too good to be missed.
So these are our dessert;
 |
Vanilla Ice Mochi |
Something hubby like, warm mochi with ice cold vanilla ice cream.
 |
Earl Grey Jelly Creme Royale |
Earl Grey Jelly was for me, it was light and the fresh cream make it smell very nice, like the japanese milk tea that I like.
Nice cold afternoon with food that is close to our heart.
